Georeferencing for uDig - difference between community and contribution

This week a member of the uDig PSC went looking for an older "referencing" community module. This community module had been idle sitting for a number of years, but had never been added to the project.

What makes the difference between a community module and a contribution?

Well here is what makes a community plug-in:
- the community module was available in version control
- we ask for a page of documentation in the community wiki space we set aside for such things
- anyone could download, build it, and use it

And by anyone, I mean nobody. We got a couple of requests a year, and I am not aware of any of them that were followed up.

Here is what makes this into a contribution:
- an hour for Andrea Antonello to perform a code review, check over the file headers and confirm it works as advertised. Thanks!
- an hour for me to port the documentation into our online help

Foss4g 2011 seeing red

I keep being tempted by FOSS4G 2011 (it is after all a great experience).

However the website this year has me seeing "red".

Or not.

As many others around the world I am red green colour blind; or as I like to think of it red does not do much for me. Seeing a girl in a red dress will leave me seeing the girl (which is how it should be).

To help with this I have a couple of pictures (no not of  a girl). Note the technique of selecting the text in order to read it only works when the text is "text" (and not a picture).

And to help here is the same image in gray so you can git a feel for a reduced web palette.

Please continue with your regularly scheduled browsing experience.
